Now that Ive owned this car for 2 months my opinion has changed for the worse. I have discovered a leak, water soaking the floorboards after a few days of heavy rain. Door panels misaligned which I didnt notice before. Watch out for the made in Mexico ones. Lots of quality control issues reported by owners in the forums. Check the VIN. Made in Mexico VIN starts with 3. My advice is dont buy a Mexican made Honda Fit. The made in Japan ones have a VIN that starts with J. Be very careful about this. The dealerships know about the issues. You can negotiate a much better price for the problem plagued Mexican made ones. You will pay more for the Japanese ones. Please take this advice.
  • Loving my little Fit

So, I have been driving my Fit for almost 11 months. I have put 46,000 miles plus on it so far. I am about to replace my factory Firestone tires. I think I am ready to give this car a review. First the cons. The biggest one is the 35,000 mile, bumper to bumper, factory warranty! Really Honda? Yes, I bought the Fit anyway. But here is my complaint; your products are well made and have a history of excellent reliability. So with that said, why not be competitive with your rivals; Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and do better on the factory warranty? Why not match them and offer at least 50,000 miles bumper to bumper? Your lower priced competitors cover their products for that long and some warranty their cars for 100,000 miles. The next con is the center armrest, it is about 7 inches too low to rest your elbow on while driving. The other big issue is the flimsy undercarriage shield that protects the oil filter and oil pan. The car sits very low, there is very little clearance and this plastic panel, held on with plastic clips partially detached and was dragging on the pavement after I hit a puddle of water! A belly flop on a puddle detached this shield. I wish this panel was made of something a little less flexible and held in place with steel bolts, attached to something a little more sturdy? It can't protect much under there if a puddle can detach it! The left outside mirror has this little black vertical line at the far end and it is supposed to be for blind spot assistance? I still don't see what assistance it is supposed to give the driver? The access to the dash power adapter to plug in a charger is a bit too low, and it is kind of in the way of the console's left cup holder and storage. The cabin noise is there, it is not excessive but it is noticeable when driving at highway speeds. I had one warranty replacement; a bum left front strut. One recall to change out the attachment bolts for all 4 door handles. Both of those repairs went well without a hitch. Here's another thing, more of a pet peeve for some, but for me it is important. I do not depend on the service oil life reminder to tell me when to change the oil and filter. Supposedly the oil life reminder monitors the health of the engine oil and it tells you when your oil has 15% life left and that is when Honda says it is time to change the oil and filter. So based on how I drive, if I let the oil life get to 15%, that would mean an oil change every 11,000 miles!! Sorry Honda, but that is just too many miles between oil and filter changes! I am old school and change it based on miles. The Pros, I love to drive my Fit, and I drive it a lot. I am used to a powerful, full size, crew cab pick up. I am used to power, cargo space and good visibility. This was going to be a big change for me and I was consigned to accepting disappointment as part of the deal. I am so surprised at how much pep the Fit has and how much I can haul inside the rear cargo area and the back seat. I have plenty of power to merge onto the freeways and I can pass and leave the 18 wheelers behind me in the dust with ease. The visibility is great, for being so low to the ground. The lane watch camera is one of my favorite EX extras! The back up camera is very nice to have as well when backing out of cramped parking situations. I love the magic back seat, and the headroom in the cabin. My 6 foot tall, long legged teenage Son can sit comfortably in the back seat, with room between his knees and the back of the front seat to spare. The spacious back seat is one of the main reasons I chose the Fit. The fuel economy you get in this car is awesome. Especially when you are used to feeding a pick up truck! I get on average 37 to 41 mpg per tank combined city and highway and 42 to 45 mpg per tank highway. I usually drive my Fit in eco mode and let the CVT do its magic. This car loves to run between 60 mph and 66 mph. This is the sweet spot for maximum fuel economy like I am getting. I love using the Bluetooth to live stream music and hands free calling. It even reads my texts to me and can give a brief reply, which is convenient. I really enjoy the moon roof, what a nice little extra touch. The steering wheel controls are a great plus too! The Fit's handling is positive and responsive. The brakes are solid. This little car can come to a very abrupt stop from highway speeds to zero and the ABS keeps you in your lane and in control. I have had to make several evasive moves to avoid collisions with deer and crazy drivers at highway speeds and never once did this little car handle unpredictably or body roll when swerving. The Fit feels "weighty" for its small size and it has a low, wide and stealthy stance. The Fit handles adverse weather conditions well and it is very maneuverable in tight spaces. I got value for the money spent and I do not regret my purchase.
  • I LOVE this car, my Hubby, not so much

Date of Purchase Jan 2016 I researched for 2 months prior to making this purchase, and haven't really regretted it. I will say that my total even after 6500 down was like 17k, which stung when my bestie went and got a nice used Yaris for 6k flat, HOWEVER, this is a Honda, it will run forever, and being new I will get more years at this point than she will. LOVES: Gas mileage is fabulous. I know that the indicators on our cars are not fully accurate, however I tend to average 40 mpg on drives of any decent length, even with other folks in the car. the tank only holds 10g but I almost never had to gas up, which I LOVE. I leave ecoboost on all the time, and use cruise control even when doing in city driving to maximize it. Also it is pretty versatile. The seats fold like a million ways, and I can fit any sensible thing in there. 8ft sheet of drywall?-no, but literally like anything else. Even helped someone move recently and I think she was shocked at the stuff I could get in my Fit. Also the front seats fold SO far back you can literally take a comfy nap Wasn't a selling point but love the moon/sun roof People complain about the seat and head rest, but Ive been a nurse a long time, and have back and neck problems, and even when I have a 2 hour drive I don't feel uncomfortable. That said, my family often complains there are no front seat armrests (I don't care) Not as much power as the v-6 I used to drive, but lets be honest, I think we expect that in this class, and again, even when the car is jammed full of people we make it up and down our hilly area just fine. Like the safety features and kids are starting to drive so it was a big concern. Best backup camera I have ever had, and the right lane turn camera is fabulous, all of us love it. Air bags all over, and steel safety cage was a plus Handles well, tiny turn radius, and so small its a breeze to maneuver. You can park this sucker like anywhere Screen is nice and big, and like the info I can get on it is so easy to see, wish it would do/offer more though. Like the hatch, easy on the go, and convenient. The mats it came with were fine for me, and I feel no need for the special all weather ones. I love the push button start, which I hadn't cared about before, but wouldn't give up at this point. Also like the function of the keyless system. Just beware, it does lock itself even if you didn't want it to sometimes, so you have to get used to it Cons Wish the back seat had a fold down arm rest, maybe with cup holders to separate the kids better, but cup holders in each door, and I can just tie them up (kidding) Grammy feels the road noise is too much for her when she is riding with me, and feels her Prius has better road noise control. Doesn't bother me though Hubby is a big guy, like 6'3" and wide football player shoulders, so to be honest this isn't the most relzxing fit for him. The head room is surprisingly decent but especially width wise he often feels cramped. The biggest drawback for me is thus: theres a nice huge infotainment screen that I cant do much with. It shows my camera views which is great, song title, phone connected, call data, drive info and such but not much else. I had no intention for paying extra for onboard GPS which would have displayed there. But heres the kicker, there is an HDMI input slot to connect your IPhone to, but it wont work with android. So If I had an iPhone I could mirror applications AND more importantly iPhone GPS to it. It doesn't work with android, and my research indicates that due to the variety and difference in android device manufactures its unlikely to ever happen. This is my single biggest Con/ Awesome screen, but during most of my drive it quite frankly doesn't do much, and I had enough of apple a long time ago so just out of luck :( I love this car, I don't really regret it, though the price bothers me a touch. I enjoy driving it, and feel safe with the kids in it. Lots of nice features.
