The refreshed 2019 Honda HR-V has some exciting changes

The Honda HR-V has been on the road for a few years, and it's now due for a mid-cycle refresh. Let's see what changes are in store for the 2019 Honda HR-V when it comes to powertrain, looks, and technology!

The Honda HR-V has one engine for the entire five-model trim lineup. It's a 1.8L with 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft torque. It's paired with an automatic transmission and select trims get paddle shifters. If you liked driving stick, we do have to announce that Honda dropped the manual option on the base trim. However, if you want more control as you make your way around the areas we serve, the top Touring trim has standard AWD and the rest of the trims can get it. Even the base!

Exterior & Interior

The exterior of the 2019 Honda HR-V doesn't look drastically different, though there are more wheel designs. The interior is also pretty much the same, but now there are two trims that offer leather (the EX-L and the all-new Touring), and on the Touring there's an 8-way power-adjust driving seat. That's a feature that wasn't available in past model years! Another upgrade is that all trims except for the base now have Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone capabilities.

Back in 2018, the Honda Sensing® package of advanced safety technologies was not available on the Honda HR-V, even on the top trim. That's changed for 2019! Honda Sensing® is standard starting on the EX trim. With this package you'll get the following:

  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Lane Keeping Assist
  • Road Departure Mitigation
  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Collision Braking System
  • Forward Collision Warning
